Raj, an international student, eagerly anticipates his lunch date with a girl he met online, only to find himself in an unexpected situation.
DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
‘Fish in the Sea’ is inspired by a true story that happened to a dear friend of mine. While the chances of young immigrants meeting a potential match are much higher in their home countries, the situation is drastically different in Canada (or any distant land). ‘Fish in the Sea’ tells the story of a young international student who uses an online dating app to connect with a girl, only to realize that the meeting doesn’t unfold as he expected. This short film aims to explore the modern dating scene in a light and entertaining manner, while remaining true to its underlying theme. Like any work of art, I believe a good movie should leave the audience with something meaningful to take away. With ‘Fish in the Sea’, alongside my team, I have endeavored to achieve just that. This film is a dedication to all the young people who come to Canada with dreams of building a better life for themselves. Majority of the cast and crew in this movie are South Asian.
