DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
I must have been around 12 or 13 when one evening at the dining table my sister (around 15-16), started crying. She was telling our parents an incident that had happened to her during the day. Someone had groped her on the road. I didn’t really understand what had happened. It seemed bizarre that someone would do something like that. Why?? It didn’t make any sense to me at all. Over the years, one has witnessed with horror how everything has been normalized – from seemingly casual and yet derogatory comments right till physical and mental violence and even rape and murder. After having travelled across the world, one has witnessed that while this abuse of women is more obvious in some societies, it is prevalent in most parts of the world. It is a sickness that has consumed the whole world. This film is more like a cry of despair, helplessness, frustration even. The remedy lies with us men. We must introspect. We must go deep into our souls and cure ourselves.
