DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
As a director, my vision for “Daira (Rim of Life)” is to create a compelling social drama that explores the complexities of self-identity and cultural values in the Pakistani mindset. The film follows the story of Faris, a talented musician who faces a moral dilemma when a veteran musician’s burial incident challenges his religious and societal ethics. Through “Daira”, I aim to shed light on the challenges that artists and creatives face when navigating the cultural and religious expectations of Pakistani society. I want to explore the tension between the desire to express oneself authentically and the pressure to conform to societal norms. Ultimately, my hope is that “Daira (Rim of Life)” will encourage viewers to question the cultural values and norms that they have internalized and inspire them to embrace their authentic selves. I believe that cinema has the power to spark conversations and facilitate meaningful change, and I am excited to bring this story to life on the screen.
