A frazzled mom is late for Cricket Try Outs! Will she make it?
As an immigrant and racialized filmmaker I have often faced barriers that are born out of stereotypes of what someone like me can and cannot do. These were then further compounded when I became a mother and tried to make my way back into the industry after a hiatus. A lot of women returning to work face these preconceived notions on what they can or cannot achieve which in turn also effects their confidence. In ‘Spin Over’ a mom regains her confidence and a bit of hope for reviving her career in cricket even as she is obviously frazzled by motherhood duties. This is my tribute to all the mothers- specifically from immigrant communities- who continue to pursue their passion and push boundaries more so in unconventional careers.
