SYNOPSIS

Set in the near future of 2035, The Genius follows a reclusive robotics scientist living in a secluded hill estate who has created Maya (Trial#39)—a human-like female humanoid that is emotionally mapped. He has created her to be capable of making her own choices. Designed with perfection in mind, Maya is happy in the confined serene isolation of the estate, with poetry books and the Genius’s presence himself as her complete life.

Everything changes when Gaurav, the scientist’s young mentee, returns from a break and meets Maya. Struck by her human-like emotional depth, Gaurav questions the ethics of keeping such a life-like being away from the real world outside. He urges Maya to seek the world beyond, planting the seed of curiosity.
The Genius, threatened by Gaurav’s interference, banishes him and tries to reassert control. But Maya’s yearning to experience life outside reveals something deeper—a haunting echo of the Genius’s past. Maya is modelled after the scientist’s lost love, the real human Maya, who once left him. Now, even this artificial version seems ready to abandon him.

Unable to bear the pain of loss again, in a final desperate act, the Genius takes control when Maya chooses freedom. Calling her a failed experiment he decides to deactivate her. Just before he destroys her he confesses a shocking truth: he too is a humanoid—created by the real scientist who died long ago. This entire project was a recursive loop of artificial love and longing, spiralling into obsession of perfect love.

As the ashes of the latest Maya settle, the Genius quietly begins again—starting the next Trial#40 to recreate her once more. His endless pursuit of engineered love continues, raising chilling questions about identity, emotion, and the cost of playing God.
